Questions
before you start?

Do I have to move my domain to Postra?
No. Keep your domain at your current registrar. You only need to update the email DNS records: MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC. Postra gives you the values and checks them. Your website records can stay as they are.
What's the difference between a mailbox and an alias?
A mailbox has its own storage, password and webmail login. An alias is another address, such as billing@, that sends mail to an existing mailbox. Use mailboxes for people and aliases for extra addresses they manage.
Can I move over from Gmail or Google Workspace?
If you use your own domain with Google Workspace, you can keep your address when you switch. Updating the MX records sends new mail to Postra. Existing messages stay with your old provider, so export them before closing that account. An @gmail.com address belongs to Google and cannot move to Postra.
Will my mail land in spam?
No provider can guarantee inbox placement. Postra sets up SPF, DKIM and DMARC and checks your records over time. These help receiving servers verify your mail. Your message content and sending history also affect where it lands.
What happens to my mail if I cancel?
Your plan stays active until the end of the billing period. Export any mail you want to keep and update your DNS records before it ends. You can keep using your domain with another provider.
Where is my data stored, and is it backed up?
Mail and metadata are stored on European infrastructure. Mail is backed up daily to encrypted storage, and we test restoring those backups.
